Today, we went to Machu Picchu !!!! We woke up early and caught the train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu, which was about a two hour train ride. The view from the train was beautiful, and we saw many ruins on the way. When we got off the train, we took a short bus ride up to Machu Picchu, and spent a few hours exploring the ruins! Our tour guide, Paul, explained the history of Machu Picchu and the many theories describing its use by the Incan empire. The ruins were really beautiful, and everyone was very excited to be there. Then, we ate lunch, and took the bus and train back to Ollantaytambo. We had some time to rest up, and then went to dinner, where we all ate alpaca burgers and IT WAS AMAZING!!! The restaurant that we went to was super fancy, and grows their own vegetables. But, back to the alpaca burgers… These burgers were probably in the top three best burgers I have ever eaten. The meat was soooo juicy. If you ever come to PerĂº, you have to have an alpaca burger. Tonight was our last night eating in Ollantaytambo and it was an amazing dinner. This was an amazing trip and we are sad to have this last night here, but grateful for the wonderful experiences and the generosity of the people we met.
